2 Corinthians 1:20 [show] For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory. (ESV)

states the following: “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”

What this means is that no matter what is going on in our lives, and no matter what has gone on in our past, God’s Word is not to deprive us. His Word is not to deny us of the desires which are within us. The Scripture does not read that SOME of the promises of God are MAYBE… it reads ALL the promises of God are YES (yea) and LET IT BE SO (Amen)! It also goes on to say that those things are awarded unto us as a means to come to the glorification of God’s name through the promises which He has made to us, and our testimonies of the covenants He has continued to keep. God does not bless us abundantly because we believe that He should. He blesses those who are faithful because He has promised to be faithful to those who show faith through their works, or actions… their deeds. In essence, God reciprocates our faith and earnest efforts unto our salvation with a love so unconditional that even our wretched sins and our worthless desires cannot manifest any deterioration in its pattern.

He does not ask us to think faithfully… He commands us to SPEAK faith, and to WALK faithfully, because the glorification of God by us is through the promises of God in the Spirit made manifest in the flesh. Let’s pause on this phrase. “The glorification”… this is the lifting up of; it means to show honor, respect, and admiration… to reveal ones magnificence; gratification or exaltation. This is something typically done in public… or at least in the presence of others, because glorification, admiration and exaltation are things that are done to share and prove the worth of something or someone. “of God by us” suggests that something is being done to the Spirit of God, or the very being of Him and that we are the means by which this ‘something’ is being done. “is through the promises of God”… this statement is the key- everything else in the sentence revolves around, or is made possible by or through, the promises that God has made to us. “in the spirit” is simply pointing out that something has not been transformed into its natural form yet. This means that it is still in its very basic essence of existence without having been manipulated or changed in any way… “in the spirit” may also be considered ‘unassigned’ or ‘unapplied’. “made manifest in the flesh” is the other part of the key to this phrase. This refers to something having been already transformed from its essential basic form into a compromised and vulnerable state in which it can be either stretched to its full potential or allowed to waste away, because anything of flesh will eventually become useless, be cast away, or perish.

When you consider these concepts in interpreting this statement, you get something to the effect of the following: The public exaltation and admiration that we provide unto the magnificence of the Spirit of God is made possible by the proof of His glorious and wonderful nature given to us through the promises He has made to us in the spirit and kept by causing it to appear and occur in our natural lives. It is our responsibility to take the product of that promise which breeds a growth potential far beyond the ability of any man and allow it to take us farther than even our wildest imaginations! That takes SPEAKING in and WALKING in faith… sometimes even BLIND faith. It is through helping His promises to strive and not allowing that which He has blessed us with to perish along with our flesh that He is glorified. God’s Spirit is shown to the world through His people, and is shown to His people through His promises. Therefore, “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” You are the key to the salvation of others because you hold the key to the enlightenment that allows them to realize God’s promises. Their realization of His promises perpetuates the endless circle of His Being, and His Spirit. Be that divine connection. Allow God’s Spirit in you to be an infectious presence wherever you go.
